About Us

Our story began in 2010 when Age Concern Birmingham, Age Concern Hampshire, Age Concern Liverpool & Sefton and Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East wanted to provide a range of value for money products and services whilst raising funds for their respective charities.

advant~age was established as a result – a social enterprise offering a new fundraising model for charities and social purpose businesses across the UK.

advant~age sourced partnerships with only reputable, ethical businesses, sought regulatory support and generated a lean infrastructure within which our charities could trade.

Every time a product is sold, the provider makes a donation to our charity partners, giving the customer the added satisfaction that their purchase is raising money for needy causes.

With this infrastructure in place and with the economic climate as it was, advant~age realised that other charities and not-for-profit organisations might wish to benefit from the same opportunity.

As such many more older people’s charities joined advant~age as partners and this was then extended to all charities.

Our online fundraising model is now available for all charities to adopt and benefit from – age-related or otherwise.

The first non Age Concern charity to join up was Crossroads Care East Anglia.
Brenda Bond Chief Executive at Crossroads said “Crossroads Care East Anglia is delighted to be the first non-Age Concern partner working with advant~age. We believe this is a great way to generate unrestricted income that we can use to provide more services and support for carers. We are confident that the partnerships developed by advant~age have resulted in competitive and reputable products, and we have found the joining process and set-up simple but thorough and supportive.”

advant~age is dedicated to enabling charities to help vulnerable people, their families & carers and supporters obtain access to safe and reputable products and services, whilst at the same time generating valuable unrestricted income for the charity and minimising reputational risk.
Products range from insurance policies and financial advice to large one-off purchases such as stair lifts and funeral plans. We also enable charities to signpost supporters to products and services they can purchase to support the charity further at no extra cost to themselves. Products range from flowers & gift experiences to travel insurance. Our role includes performing rigorous due diligence and quality control on the providers of these services. Customers can then be confident they will receive a high quality service at a fair price. Charities can feel confident in signposting to providers, knowing that their reputations are protected. Individuals or their carers can access these services by contacting us directly or through one of our partner charities.

We believe that we have found an innovative way to support charities and as such local communities. Dil Daly Chair of advant~age and Chief Executive of Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton says “It has been an exciting time for advant~age and its many partners and we hope that the general public will support us in this venture and change the way that we as consumers buy products for the benefit of all”.
